Local business

The one-page website checklist for a local business

A small business page succeeds when a customer can answer three questions quickly: Is this for me? Can I trust it? What should I do next? Everything else is secondary.

Lead with the offer in plain language

Put the service, menu, or product category near the top. Avoid making a visitor decode a poetic brand line before they know whether you solve their problem.

If price varies, use a useful starting point or explain what affects it. If the visitor must enquire, say what information they should send so the conversation can begin efficiently.

Design for the channel that sends traffic

A page opened from WhatsApp should make the promised offer immediately visible. A page opened from an Instagram profile should connect the visual identity to the business. A printed QR at a physical location should surface hours, menu, or booking details without an introduction.

Use the same page everywhere only when its first screen serves those contexts. Otherwise, change the ordering or create a focused campaign link rather than adding more content to the top.

Place local utility close to intent

Hours, location, directions, call, and WhatsApp are decision tools. Put them near the offer or in a clear action area. Do not bury today's opening hours in a footer while filling the first screen with an oversized photograph.

  • Current opening hours
  • Address written for humans
  • A working directions link
  • Phone or WhatsApp with a clear purpose
  • Booking or enquiry expectation

Use proof that answers a doubt

A gallery should show the actual work, space, food, or product. Testimonials should identify the type of result or experience, not just say that the business is excellent. Credentials matter when the service is high trust; they matter less than current images for a café or studio.

Finish by testing on a modest mobile connection. Compress images, avoid unnecessary video above the fold, and confirm that tapping call, directions, and enquiry produces the expected result.
